Over 200 Lao handicraft producers will be selling handmade textiles (including famous Lao silk and cotton with natural dyes), jewellery, basketry, wood and recycled products, pottery and many other cultural items. From inexpensive souvenirs to exquisite high-end collectables, there is something to suit all budgets. Members of Fair Trade Laos and villagers from NGO projects will join the festival and food products made in Laos also feature.
The Lao Handicraft Festival helps to promote and preserve the country’s ancient craft heritage while also improving market access and opportunities for handicraft producers. One week of selling at the LHF can dramatically increase sales and income for handicraft producers. Some artisans will even develop business relationships that lead to repeat orders and contracts for popular products.
